I highly recommend you check Burial out, and I will be posting more dubstep artists in up coming days.

Dubstep Recommendations Volume 2
It's time you all experience some Burial! Here is an incredible song of theirs called Moth, it gives me chills. There's something about the repetitive pulsing with an overlying beat that licks around the occasional vocals. If that isn't enough for you, you'll soon discover halfway an intermission of delicate churning of another kind which eventually leads back into the pulsing sounds.

Dubstep Recommendations Volume 1
Liquid Stranger
Traveling the uncharted terrains of sound, Liquid Stranger’s creative output spans a wide range of electronic music in all of its colours and shades. Always pushing the sonic boundaries and merging genres, he consistently creates an ever-evolving blend of unique atmospheres and cutting edge grooves.
With 4 highly acclaimed full-length albums under his Liquid Stranger moniker, this multi-talented producer has established himself as the epitome of trans-national dubstep, covering everything from Latin, Asian, Eastern European and Jamaican Dancehall dubs. His first two albums, ‘The Invisible Conquest’ and ‘The Intergalactic Slapstick’ (Interchill 2007 & 2009), generated a substantial buzz with DJs and listeners alike while his next two albums, ‘The Private Riot’ and ‘Mechanoid Meltdown’
If you are really new to dubstep definitely start with him. He covers the basics of dubstep, melting tracks down and building them up.
Zed Bias
If you want atmospheric, deep and dirty dubstep you have to check this guy out. He creeps into your rooms at night and wobble rapes you. He's actually more UK Garage than dubstep but these are some of the dubstep tracks he's done that are nasty as fuck.
The Gaslamp Killer
The Gaslamp Killer is a Los Angeles-based DJ whose eclectic style ranges from psychedelia and world music to dubstep and left-field hip-hop. Associated with Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder Records, he made his production debut in the late 2000s with a series of EPs. Born William Benjamin Bensussen, he originally comes from San Diego, CA, whose downtown Gaslamp District's bar scene inspired him to name himself the Gaslamp Killer in disgust for much of the patronage. As a producer, the Gaslamp Killer made his debut in the late 2000s, releasing, for instance, a split single with Free the Robots, "The Killer Robots".
Personally I really enjoy his psychedelia, if you are into it you'll love him! He doesn't dabble into dubstep as much as he could but he's well worth a listen by all means.
Coki
Dubstep Producer, DJ and MC from the UK. He's also part of Digital Mystikz and together with Mala (4) and Loefah he's running the DMZ label.
He is insanely cool, pimps out heavy set tracks with eerie wobbles and sometimes throws in hip hop elements.

Music Review
Ellen Allien - Dust
01. Our Utopie
02. Flashy Flashy
03. My Tree
04. Sun The Rain
05. Should We Go Home
06. Ever
07. You
08. Dream
09. Huibuh
10. Schlumi
02. Flashy Flashy
03. My Tree
04. Sun The Rain
05. Should We Go Home
06. Ever
07. You
08. Dream
09. Huibuh
10. Schlumi
First track 'Our Utopie' = sex. A distinctive lead up made my ears prick up in pleasure. Fading in and out of distorted vocals gave it this eerie post apocalyptic vibe. ‘Flashy Flashy’ was average; it seemed a bit simple and repetitive. ‘My Tree’ is more of the same. ‘Sun The Rain’ had a nice riff to it, very dreamy and light. It later gets a little more intense, as though it’s reaching its climax. I can’t understand a word Ellen is singing because her voice is so distorted.
‘Should We Go Home’ had this creepy lost in the woods sound to it which was interesting but it kind of put me into a trance and I accidently drowned out of the song; seems that it would fit more in a thriller movie to be frank. However, the next song ‘Ever’ really had a beat. It reminded me of Daft Punk in some respects from the deep beat that began from the start. I like heavy set songs with thick bass. Like ‘Sun The Rain’ the song ‘You’ has a riff rather than solely an electronic sound. This time I can actually understand Ellen’s vocals. Still, a bit boring.
‘Dream’ was awful. It had both repetitive beats and vocals that never really brought anything decent to the table. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the album. I couldn’t wait for it to end to be honest. The tracks weren’t set out in the album very well and I didn’t really get a theme or purpose to it. I’d only ever listen to ‘Our Utopie’ again and nothing else. I feel like the tracks were too simple for my liking. Ellen is considered Minimal Techno and it’s definitely not my cup of tea.

Fashion Faux Paus
Does anyone else think Zowie (New Zealand singer) is struggling desperately to catch up with the trends? She's doing the whole shoulder pads and tights thing, for example:
I mean Lady Gaga already kicked this theme off and many artists/retail stores have already followed it, can I say it's already been done to death? In addition I'd like to complain about the no pants thing. Okay serious slutty pop tarts, we get that you want to be 'in' but you don't actually all have the legs to carry off no pants. I think Rihanna is the only acceptable copy cat as she actually suits it, in addition to the dominatrix style dress.
Speaking of the latest trends, is anyone else slightly scared of the transsexual Sci Fi theme going on? I'm actually liking the style but dayum! I supposed sometimes it's hard to tell a male model from a female sometimes with how they are made up to look.

In regards to the Sci Fi, I am loving this dress in particular:
Designer unknown
Manish Arora S/S2011
MAJOR DROOL - Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2010 Alien heels
This is why Alexander McQueen is my favourite designer, RIP Dear Sir. Post Apocalyptic is looking good too from spring 2010. If anyone else has some fashion complaints feel free to comment. Other than that I will continue to sit on my high horse waiting for something else to be horrified at.
Rock Of Ages
Isn't it interesting how we change developmentally as we get older? For example, when I was at high school about say 13-14 years-old, I had the fashion sense and maturity of a plank of wood. I literally owned one pair of pants were were ugly, black and did I mention ugly? By 15 years-old I had developed an attitude where my self confidence soared and I decided to fight back against the haters and people who looked down on me. I dyed my hair a bright red, wore make-up and hanged with low life smokers after school. At 16 I made the mistake of having my hair bleached blonde. I swear to God the entire school looked at me in horror the day, when turning up to school with it for the first time. I literally looked like a walking light bulb. Fashion blunder number #324325. In my final year of high school I slowed down and my generous aunt fixed my hair to be light brown with gorgeous blonde streaks. The ugly duckling began to turn into a swan. The clothes I wore were less skanky and I felt more at ease with myself.
I got to University which is well known as the self-discovery period for many people. Here I had the chance to start a fresh and boy did I do that! I maintained my hair a nice natural blonde and found a fantastic way to dress - girlie chic and bold coloured street style.I wore leather jackets, blazers and multi coloured dresses well before it was 'in'. I had finally reached a point where I was satisfied with who I was physically and mentally. It was like my dress sense and personal style matched my personality.
Now the point of this reference to the old school days of Jess, is I'm looking at the younger generations who are coming through the stages I went through. They either, a) develop at the same rate as I do when it comes to the inner self and fashion style to match their personality or b) are late bloomers and instead use early post high school years to develop themselves. For a long time young people really do follow their friends, follow the trends until they eventually realise that they have a personality and can think for themselves about how they look and act. Gotta get some swagger bitches!
Something to think about indeed.

Breaking News
There's been a tornado in Albany, Auckland! I'm in Auckland but south of it so just we are getting the bad weather. Here is a raw video someone recorded and the report from the New Zealand Herald. Scary! The entire roof of Albany mall came off. :(
Update: 1 person is reported dead. 22 injured.
NZ Herald
Update: 1 person is reported dead. 22 injured.
NZ Herald
Auckland suburb of Albany and the building is being evacuated, reports say. Police have confirmed injuries in the area.
Emergency services say the tornado followed a straight line south from Albany before dying out near Pt Chevalier to the west of Auckland Central.
Foodstuffs has confirmed its Pak 'n Save Albany store suffered significant damage from the tornado.
The store has been evacuated and the company is still gathering information on whether staff or customers had been injured, its statement says.
Rob Crawford was on the scene when the tornado struck, where what he saw reminded him of the movie Twister.
"Carparks scattered with the remains of trees, upturned cars. There's iron off the roof of the old Placemakers, just wrapped around it ... total mini destruction within the carpark."
It's like a movie set. Is this real? Is this happening?' But when you see people lying on the ground, covered in blood, clutching their heads, it's damn real."
Samantha Davey from Albany Optometrists said it appeared that part of the roof at the neighbouring Albany Mega Centre had been torn away.
"We are a bit above the mall, looking down from our building we can see part of the mall roof is gone," she said.
"It looks like it's the bit behind Number 1 shoe Warehouse but our building is a bit above on Corinthian Drive so it's hard to tell.
"There's people at Work and Income, they said they saw a car swept up in it."
Miss Davey said the tornado passed "fairly quickly" but wasn't roaring as it may have been imagined.
One of her colleagues said her in-laws lost a few tiles of their roof in Unsworth.
Kate England was working at the Gordon Harris Art & Graphic Supplies just above the mall when the tornado hit.
"The first 10 seconds I was just in shock. It sounded like a bad car crash."
She said she watched a grey car being lifted 20 feet up in the air near the roundabout by the mall from the window of her work.
"It was the most surreal experience."
"Somebody came into the shop and said the Placemakers building, which the company moved out of about a week ago, is now just a shell."
She said the tornado came from the direction of the Westfield Mall, before moving through the Mega Centre.
In nearby Glenfield, an explosion is thought to have been heard at an electrical substation.
A resident, who did not want to be named, said a "crazy" amount of sirens could be heard in the area.
"I've never heard so many sirens in my life, and the birds have gone crazy. They just flew to the north."
It is understood that Kaipatiki Rd has been closed in Glenfield, where heavy rain is falling.
While major tornadoes are rare in New Zealand, there have been several deadly ones in recent history.
In August 2004, Rosina Dawn Wikohika, 55, of Levin and her grandson Gary Mason, 10, were killed with a tornado struck the Taranaki town of Motunui, north of Waitara.
On August 25, 1948, a major tornando hit the Hamilton suburb of Frankton, killing three people and damaging or destroying dozens of houses.
New Zealand tornadoes tend to be less deadly than those in other countries. More than 300 people were killed last week in a series of storms and tornadoes in the American South.

Day 2
Music Recommendation of the Week
This week I am recommending two artists: Q Project and the duo Eleventh Sun.
This week I am recommending two artists: Q Project and the duo Eleventh Sun.
Q Project
Bio: Renaissance Man Q-Project has been causing quite a ruckus in the world of drum & bass. A man of porn and Porches, Q-Project is responsible for some big d+b anthems having rolled out big jams for the likes of Bingo, Liquid V, his own CIA imprint and of course Hospital in the past.
In spring 2005 Oxford resident Quiff pledged allegiance to the NHS flag, 2 huge EPs later Computer Love and Hello, My Name is Q-Project won pride of place in the sets of Fabio and Grooverider, Zinc, Hype and Andy C. Q-Project followed this with a glimpse into the weekend world of Q-Project with his mighty Album Renaissance Man. Oxford's very own "Uber Caner" now saw his "Man Music" pumping out of function one systems and Porsche boots all over the world.
In 2008, with the economic downturn and payments on the boxster due every month, things came down to the crunch. Responding in typical buoyant fashion, the awesome Credit Crunch EP dropped in late 2008, smashing any fragile economy in it's path and once again affirming Quiff's champion D+B sound...
Eleventh Sun
Bio: You can hear it can’t you? Clean dark medieval sound that once was lost and is coming back in the souls and expression of the Eleventh Sun. You can feel it can’t you; ripping inside of you telling you that you need more of this shaded signal. You can see it can’t you? The darkness shows you the truth; that the light hides when darkness comes; telling you that there will be more to come, more to hear, more to see.
What Darkness Hides: The Eleventh Sun, hailing out of Toronto, have been quietly setting the Neurofunk world on fire. From pounding Nu-skool breaks to rolling minimalist drops, combined with pure dance floor energy driven by dirty basslines and crisp cutting beats. Make no mistake the sound of the future is here! With releases on Close 2 Death (Kill Them EP – UK), Melting Pot (So Blind EP – Spain / France) and their very own ALTOSYNC (Everybody Bleeds The Same EP – Canada) label, as well as playing shows in Mexico city and a UK tour in the coming year, The Eleventh Sun is fast becoming a force of Drum N Bass.
If you love drum in bass, I think you'll really dig this!
Day 1
Today I wish to post on girly movies that make every muscle in my cheeks ache with happiness. The movies are:
Clueless
The Hairy Bird
Legally Blonde
Date of Release: 1995
My Interpretation: This movie by far is a cosy one. It's one of those sitting in bed warm with a hot water bottle type moments (girls you know what I mean) while the rain pours outside and you can enjoy the lives of teenage girls in the 90's. Back then it was so basic, fashion was huge and if you were rich then and only then would you own a cellular. A girl arrives from another city who is in major need of a makeover. Cher, the lead character is more than happy to oblige with help, as her ex-step brother is on her back about her lack of contribution to the earth. As the story goes on Cher releases how little control she has over her life even though she tries so hard to manage it. In the end she lets go of her insistent need to help herself get what she wants and finds it comes to her naturally. What a life! I think it's Cher's positivity and genuine care for others that attracts me to her. She's gorgeous, fun and someone who'd I'd love to be in another life. Too bad she's only a movie character!
Date of Release: 1998
My interpretation: If you like the 60's era including its fantastic pop music you will adore this film. Interestingly, even though it is a chick flick I have found many of my guys friends to still enjoy it. This movie is the one movie I have to play to ALL of my friends at some point. It's a cult classic (in my opinion) - boarding school girls who are bored and find themselves fighting for their right to study as an only girls school. St Andrew's Academy are intended to join with Miss Goddard's Girls to become a co-ed school. A strong feminist movement ties in here with a group of girls being divided over the final result of this merge. In the end they realise how awful the St. Andrews boys are and plot a plan to stop the merge once and for all. It takes a strong willed and straight talking girl to lead the school of ladies to vote against the movement and they indeed have their voices heard. Another movie to note for its fashion sense.
Date of release: 2001
My Interpretation: If I'm ever feeling upset or hard done by, I watch this movie. It's a movie that makes you feel worth it no matter what anyone else (or you) have said instead. Elle Woods is a confident and bright women who has decided to join Harvard Law school just to win back her ex boyfriend. She discovers however, that she really enjoys the law and decides to do the study for herself. After being selected to assist a high profile court case for her teacher, she learns about how small minded others can be and how superficial her teacher and ex boyfriend really are. She quits Harvard after falsely accused of sleeping her way there until her friends convince her how wonderful she is. The moral of the story of course is to not judge a person by how they look. Elle was considered stupid, ditsy and superficial but proved to others she was so much more, she was intelligent, strong willed and honest. Legally Blonde often motivated me during my studies to work harder. You can't argue with that!
